Sakaja flags off 24 new garbage trucks, unveils plan for Green Nairobi Company
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja unveiled 24 new refuse compactor trucks at City Hall on Thursday as part of efforts to enhance waste management across the city.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has seized two matatus owned by George Ruto, son of President William Ruto, following widespread public complaints about their reckless driving on Kenyan roads.
The matatus, operating on the Lang’ata-Rongai route under the names Money Fest and Ambush, have been the subject of controversy, with videos circulating online showcasing their dangerous behavior. In the footage, the vehicles are seen driving on the wrong side of the road, including one instance where a matatu became stuck, despite the presence of traffic police.
In the most recent videos, young people can be seen dangerously riding on top of the buses and clinging to the sides while the matatus overtook other vehicles in Rongai town.
