Kenya's exports to EU drop to Ksh.38 billion

Kenya's export earnings from the European Union (EU) slightly declined to Ksh.38 billion in the third quarter of 2024, compared to Ksh.38.8 billion during the same period in 2023.

Kenya's export earnings from the European Union (EU) slightly declined to Ksh.38 billion in the third quarter of 2024, compared to Ksh.38.8 billion during the same period in 2023.

Data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) attributed the drop to reduced domestic exports of cut flowers and lower re-exports of kerosene-type jet fuel to the Netherlands.

Similarly, the value of imports from the EU decreased from Ksh.56.79 billion in the second quarter of 2024 to Ksh.54.6 billion in Q3 2024.

Kenya's overall exports in the third quarter of 2024 rose to Ksh.282.4 billion, marking a 2.4% increase from Ksh.275.74 billion in the second quarter.

Despite a reduction in imports from Africa and America, Kenya's trade performance remains strong, reflecting the country's growing role in global markets.
